Children
Our summer schedule
of programs will begin June 30th. Registration is required for some
programs although
guests are welcome if space is available.
Sign-up will continue throughout
the summer as room allows.

Catch the Reading Bug
What's the buzz?
Reading is the way to have a great summer! We have lots of
special programs to go along with our theme, including 3 reading
clubs for children. Sign up begins Monday June
23 and continues through the summer. Don't miss the fun!
Read-to-Bees for preschoolers

Stories and a craft on a
weekly theme for children going into grades 1 - 3. There's
no need to sign up - just drop in for the fun. Different
stories and crafts projects each week.

Hey
kids - if you're going into
4th, 5th or 6th grades, be sure to join us on Tuesday
afternoons for some buggy fun! Our games, crafts, book
sharing, challenges, and other
activities will be a great way to spend a hot summer afternoon.

Stories and more for children 3-5 years old. Our half-hour
sessions feature puppets, stories from picture books,
fingerplays, action rhymes, songs, and a flannelboard story or
rhyme on a weekly theme. Children are encouraged to
participate on their own, but parents are always welcome.
Each group is limited to 25 children and registration is
required.

What could be more fun than
coming to the library in your jammies?
Parents are invited to join their 3 - 8 year olds for stories, fingerplays, a short movie, and fun at the library. No
registration necessary

Join us for 20 minutes of
language fun for 6-24 month olds along with their Moms or Dads.
Each session features nursery rhymes, songs, bounces, stretches,
fingerplays, and a short story. The program is offered
once a month, generally on the first Friday.
The Walkers class (if your child
is walking) is at 10:15 and includes more active participation. Pre-walkers meet at 11:00 for
rhymes, foot pats, stretches, and songs.

offers a variety of story programs for children throughout

Registration is required for any
marked with *. Sign-up generally begins the week before
the program and can be done in person at the library or by
phone.
Mother Goose Time *
A 20 minute language enrichment program for 6 - 24 month olds
featuring nursery rhymes, songs, and activities.
Time for Twos *
2 year olds and their parents can enjoy simple stories,
songs, and fingerplays in this 20 minute program
Preschool Storytime *
A 30 minute program of stories, songs, puppets, fingerplays,
and the flannelboard especially for 3, 4, and 5 year olds.
Familytime *
A nighttime story program offered to fit the schedule of working
parents and their 3 - 5 year olds.
Pajama Storytime
Children 3 - 8 years old are invited to come to the library in
their pajamas for stories and fun; parents are invited to join
their children. This evening program is offered during the
summer as well as during National Library Week and before
Christmas.
Summer Reading Clubs
Wood Library offers 3 special ways for children to keep reading
and enjoying books during the summer months: a Read-to-Me club
for preschoolers, a club for children going into grades 1-3 to
help them maintain their reading skills during their vacation
months, and a club for 4th - 6th graders to help them discover
new genres and explore the fun they can have through books.
Special Events
The Children's Department offers special programs for
children and their families throughout the year. These
programs will be advertised on our website and calendar of
events, in the media, and in the library. Call (585)
